Wingfield Station Gardens
Wingfield was famous for attractive station gardens and won the best station garden award in 1959. We would like to create some station garden features to enhance visitor enjoyment and encourage more bees and insects. We welcome any plant donations that can help with this. We have recently planted a new garden adjacent to the woodland trail entrance from the station, plus installed various handmade railway-themed planters around the station site. A selection of pictures is below.
Future plans include:
Create a terrace garden adjacent to the station woodland entrance
Create a garden area at the Holme Lane entrance
Install additional planters and pots around the site
Create a raised bed in front of the North Midland Railway crest
Create a garden area next to the station approach road
